Marcia Hermansen is Lady Fatima Endowed Chair in Women and Divinity at Habib University and before that was Professor of Theology at Loyola University Chicago. She received her PhD in Arabic and Islamic Studies from the University of Chicago in 1982, and has conducted research in Egypt, India, Iran, Jordan, Pakistan, and Türkiye. Professor Hermansen has written extensively in the fields of Islamic thought, Islam and Muslims in South Asia, Muslims in America, and Women in Islam. Some of her books include The Conclusive Argument from God (1996), Muslima Theology (2013), and Varieties of American Sufism (2020).
